Bending Deformation and Ultimate Moment Calculation of Screen Pipes in Offshore Sand Control Completion

Horizontal wells, extended-reach and multi-branch wells were often used to exploit subsea oil gas efficiently. However, during the sand control screen completion of those pipe was easily deformed. Failure occurred when passing through bending section due large in wellbore trajectory. A parametric analysis model established based on ABAQUS Python software under pure load first. Then, deformation patterns mechanisms identified discussed. The effects parameters ultimate moment analyzed. Finally, an empirical formula for calculating established. results showed that complex, three related hole parameters. Due increase diameter number circumferential axial holes, gradually decreased, holes had a more significant effect than holes. could accurately calculate pipe, average difference between numerical simulation 3.25%.
